Business Awards Finalists Announced

The Chamber of Commerce of the Palm Beaches is pleased to announce the 2010 Business Awards Finalists. These awards recognize Palm Beach County companies that lead with confidence, demonstrating a solid commitment to their business goals, their employees and their local community and will be held on Thursday. May 27 at the Palm Beach County Convention Center. .

The Honorable Philip D. Lewis has been announced as this year’s recipient of the Community Leader of the Year Award. He is the owner-broker of Philip D. Lewis Real Estate.  His organization specializes in commercial and industrial real estate investments Mr. Lewis served ten years in the Florida Senate including two year’s as Senate President. He is a member of the Palm Beach County Homeless Advisory Board. A past director of the Forum Club of the Palm Beaches and a past director of the Florida Chamber of Commerce and Mr. Lewis is a founder and past chairman of Florida TaxWatch.

The Small Business Person of the Year finalists are: Jennifer Hampton, CEO, Superior Virtual Services; Christine Hanley, President, Christine D. Hanley & Associates, P.A.; and Derrick McCray, owner, McCray’s II Backyard BBQ. The award is sponsored by
AT&T Advertising Solutions, publisher of the AT&T Real Yellow Pages and YP.COM, the new YELLOWPAGES.COM.

The Business of the Year finalists are: Good Karma Broadcasting/ESPN 760; Gunster, Attorneys at Law; Palm Beach Kennel Club and St. Mary’s Medical Center and the Children’s Hospital at St. Mary’s.  The award is sponsored by The Palm Beach Post.

The finalists in the Non-Profit category are: Easter Seals Florida, which provides exceptional services to ensure that all people with disabilities or special needs and their families have the opportunities to live, learn, work and play in their community; Hanley Center, which gives hope to individuals and families affected by alcohol and drug addiction through high quality treatment; Little Smiles, which helps children escape their everyday pain and enables them to be kids again by providing computers, games,  concerts, sporting events for children in local hospitals, hospices and shelters and Seagull Industries for the Disabled, Inc., which  is dedicated to facilitating improvement in the quality of life of developmentally challenged adolescents and adults. This award is sponsored by the Cleveland Clinic Florida Health and Wellness Center.

The finalists in the Health Care Provider of the Year Award include: Dr. David Friedman, M.D., Chair, Departments of Plastic Surgery and Orthopaedic Surgery, Cleveland Clinic Florida Health and Wellness Center; Rosetta Rolle Hylton, Communications Coordinator/Community and Donor Family Services, Life Alliance Organ Recovery Agency at The University of Miami; Dr. Mark T. Marciano, Optometric Physician, Marciano Family Optometric. This award is sponsored by Florida’s Blood Centers.
